Spring Down the House

Small Friends will hold our second Annual Spring Down the House dinner and dance on Daffodil Weekend, 2008. Last year's event to kick off our Capital Campaign was a huge success. A delicious dinner at the Chanticleer will be followed by dessert and dancing at the Sconset Casino. The event helps us raise significant money for our new building as well as raise exposure about our campaign. Small Friends will make this fun event an annual part of the island's daffodil celebrations.

In line with our commitment to building a LEED certified "green" building, Small Friends Building Dreams has purchased a Smart Car that will be raffled off to benefit our Capital Campaign. A very limited number of raffle tickets will be sold.
The Mercedes Smart Car received the 4 star rating from the US Safety Management System. It can accomodate car seats and boosters. The car comes complete with 4 airbags, ABS brakes and the electronic stability program. The smart car can go up to 90 M.P.H. and is highway safe. This hybrid vehicle runs mainly on electric power getting 40 mpg in town and 45 on the highway. At a little over eight feet long, it can fit into the tightest Nantucket parking spots. Since 1998 Mercedes Benz has sold more than 770,000 smart cars in Europe and now they are entering the U.S. market. Buy your ticket to win one now!

the Event Under the Tent

Small Friends Annual Folk Art Show, "The Event Under the Tent" takes place in July and is the program's biggest fund raiser of the year. The money we raise at the Preview Party and the Event itself help keep tuition affordable for our families and help off set the operating costs of the program.
It is a juried show featuring over fifty artists and artisans from across the country, with everything from baskets and textiles to handcrafted jewelry and furniture for sale. The Preview Party is a wonderful opportunity to meet the artists, have first pick of their beautiful wares, and enjoy a cocktail with friends while supporting Small Friends
